2— Classifieds 62 300 400 • carsguide.com.au Saturday, July 18, 2009 Peugeot puts nine new Peugeotembarksonaproduct offensive over the next 12monthsthat includes the French company’s firstSUV. MarkHinchliffe reports P EUGEOT kicks off a nine- new-model production schedule with the release this month of the 308CC and concludes with the 308 RCZ 2+2 coupe in July next year. Peugeot Automobiles Australia new boss Ken Thomas said the model offensive could go as high as 10 if they could guarantee supply of the Czech-made 107 city car or its 108 replacement. The 308CC, with steel folding roof, arrives with the same diesel and petrol engines as hatch and wagon models with a starting price of $48,990 for the petrol manual up to $59,990 for the diesel auto. Thomas said that even though the top model was over the luxury car tax threshold it would not attract the tax because its fuel consumption was under seven li- tres per 100km. The 308CC will be followed in September by a facelifted 207. In November, Peugeot will release the 4007 which is their first SUV. It is a joint venture with Mitsu- bishi being based on the Outlander platform and is built in Japan. The 4007 will arrive with a new 2.2-litre diesel engine only and a price around the mid-$40,000 mark. ‘‘The entry level will be very high-spec with six airbags and stability control with five and seven-seat options,’’ he said. An ‘‘Outdoor’’ wagon version of the 207 with raised suspension and bigger wheel arches will arrive in December. Next year the company contin- ues its model offensive with a 3008 two-litre diesel crossover vehicle in March, followed a month later by the 1.6-litre turbo petrol model. The front-wheel-drive vehicle is a joint venture withBMWand will WHATEVER THE WEATHER: The Peugeot 308CC boasts a steel folding roof. come with six-speed manual and auto gearboxes. Thomas said that inside it would have a ‘‘cockpit' feel in the driver’s seat with a high-set gearshift, head- up display, electric park brake and traditional toggle switches. The French-made vehicle will also feature a split tailgate, full-size spare wheel, roll control, rain- sensing wipers and ‘‘grip control’’ with five settings for various ter- rain. Prices would be from about $40,000 to the high $40,000 mark. A premium pack would include larger alloy wheels, glass roof and six airbags. An all-wheel-drive hybrid 3008 will be produced from the end of next year, arriving here in 2011. It will be powered by a two-litre diesel engine driving the front wheels and electric motors on the rear wheels, but also will be capable of driving only under electric power. Thomas said fuel economy would be less than four litres per 100km and CO2 emissions about 109g/km. The next new model will be the 308, with a new Euro 5 compliant diesel engine, in April and a Euro 5 petrol engine arriving in June. The 308 RCZ coupe rounds out the product offensive.
