Choose Cruze control VERSUS: Leah asks which is better, the Holden Cruze CD, above, or the Honda Civic VTi, below. IAMonthehuntforacarandonmy shortlist is the Holden Cruze CD and the Honda Civic VTi (brand new). Do you have any comments, feedback or rec- ommendations? Leah Kemp email The Civic has always had a great name, but these days the Cruze is far better value, as well as a newer design with more space. Filter out problems DRIVING a new diesel engine around at low speeds can cause problems. It's not just an old wives' tale. Unfortunately the newer Euro5 engines with particulate filters have problems if stop-start driving at low speeds is common. The particulate filter sensor in the exhaust system will operate when restricted, and this will then require a regeneration process to take place. For example, on the Toyota Coaster bus, if it does a lot of stop-start driving, at some stage a warning lamp will operate on the dash to instruct the operator to pull over, and an automatic regeneration process will begin. The revs increase significantly and fuel is injected on the exhaust stroke to create a furnace-type operation in the exhaust to clean the filter. Nissan also has a regeneration process for particulate filters as well. Unfortunately more will be on our shores. Peter Mori email Thanks for the advice. Nissan nails it I JUST wanted your opinion on a few cars that we are interested in to purchase. They are the Nissan Murano TI and the Toyota Kluger Grande front-wheel drive. Can you please offer your thoughts on the two vehicles, and in your opinion which is a better vehicle? John Murone email The Murano is the better vehicle, with a great V6 engine, classy design and cabin, and good driving dynamics. It's not as all-round practical as the Kluger and is harder to park, but Nissan wins this contest. Flying the Koup I JUST wanted your opinion on the Kia Cerrato Koup. I was told that Kia does not hold its resale value well. Sue Jarvis email We tested the Koup a couple of weeks ago and, despite a great price and head- turning design, it's nothing special in quality or driving. Any Kia will not match a Toyota or Nissan or Honda or Mazda on resale, but that's one of the reasons they are cheaper in the first place. manheimfowles.com.au Plus more on offer... 349 Midland Hwy, Brighton Industrial Estate Ph 03 6263 3833 2007 Fuso Canter 29,483Km, Factor y Tipper Enquires call 03 6263 3833
